About The Biltmore Los Angeles

Giovanni Smeraldi’s frescoes, crystal chandeliers, and carved marble fountains give The Biltmore Los Angeles the scale and detail of a grand public building. Its Beaux Arts architecture, with Renaissance Revival touches, has framed hotel stays since 1923, and those elaborate interiors still define its character. Set in downtown Los Angeles near Pershing Square, the hotel carries that traditional style into its rooms and suites. The Music Suite adds a baby grand piano and square views, while Millennium Suites provide separate living and dining areas. Afternoon tea in the ornate Rendezvous Court and a swim in the indoor pool offer two very different ways to spend an afternoon within the hotel.

Why Celebrities Love The Biltmore Los Angeles

Barbra Streisand

The Biltmore, which opened in 1923 with a European Renaissance-style design, was for many years home to the annual Academy Awards. The design for the original Oscar is reputed to have been sketched on a napkin in the Crystal Ballroom at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences dinner. Presidents including Harry Truman, John F Kennedy, who used it as his campaign headquarters, and Ronald Reagan, were frequent visitors, while Nelson Mandela, Eleanor Roosevelt, Howard Hughes, John Wayne and Barbra Streisand have all stayed there.

Winston Churchill

The downtown Millennium Biltmore (001 213 624 1011) serves a decent enough cup and still looks as fetching as when Winston Churchill stayed there.
